Luthando Mbuyane
Graduate Software Developer
Building accessible, practical digital solutions.
About
Developer who cares about usability, accessibility, and clarity.
Hi, I’m Luthando Mbuyane, a Computer Science graduate based in Cape Town. I build digital solutions that make people’s lives easier, with a strong focus on accessibility, simplicity, and user-first design.
Most of my formal coursework was assessed in Java, which gave me strong programming fundamentals. I made it a personal mission to translate that knowledge into Python by building real projects and continuously challenging myself beyond coursework.
I built and deployed ScoreRent, a rental decision-support web app that helps renters evaluate listings before paying application fees. I also contributed to SeaClear, a group project focused on making beach water quality information easier to access and understand through usability testing and iteration. During the GirlCode InnovateHer Hackathon, my team and I developed HealthSync, a prototype aimed at improving access to health services.
I’m committed to continuous growth as a developer, and I enjoy improving not only what I build, but how I build it.

Why Computer Science + Psychology?
I’m interested in both how systems work and how people interact with them. Computer Science gives me the tools to build reliable software, while Psychology shapes how I think about usability, accessibility, and real-world user behaviour. This combination strongly influences my approach to backend development and human-computer interaction.
